The GPC launched the new and improved Vision Green today at few press conferences across the country.
One thing that really stood out to me was focus on the future. Policies addressing youth unemployment (currently at record highs) and the affordability of post-secondary education are desperately needed and the Green Party delivered. There can be no doubt that the best party for youth is the Green Party. With a policy like this it will be difficult for NDP front group CFS to dismiss us.
"Young people just starting their careers face special challenges during a recession. They don’t yet have the work experience to compete strongly for scarce jobs and yet need a job to become experienced. They are in a Catch-22. That is why they deserve special federal programs to ensure a solid start to their working life. This investment will only serve to strengthen our economy in the long run." ~ Deputy Leader Adriane Carr
We outlined tax policies designed not only to reduce the deficit further than the Harper government by 2013 but policies that do so without increasing payroll taxes.
"In our plan, EI and CPP contributions/deductions will be cut by one third and replaced with revenues from the carbon tax. This will put taxes on polluters and not on small businesses who want to hire people." ~ Deputy Leader Jacques Rivard
The many of the policies announced during the press conference deal with Canada's structural deficit. The Green Party of Canada is the last remaining fiscally responsible party with policies designed to kick start job creation and put Canada on the road to a strong, sustainable economy.
"We need now to climb out of this recession, but we shouldn’t do it by repeating the mistakes of the past. It is time for new, fresh and green ideas." ~ Elizabeth May
I couldn't agree more.

Off topic- format point.
Was going to put it in the the EKOS threads with lots of comments.
But when this new comment box comes up, there's no Save or Preview buttons at the bottom, and its chopped on the leat margin quite a bit.
That wasn't the point, though it might be a consequence of the comment length and threading complexity.
Whats the advantage of this threading structure of comments over just having them chronologically ordered?
I can't follow it when it gets past say a dozen comments with 2 threadings. Can't see if/where there is a new comment.
Thanks for this information,
Thanks for this information, Dave. I'll mosey on over to the GPC site and take a look for more about this exciting announcement! Great news for those concerned about the structural deficit, and about education, for sure!
