This is why I'm so comfortable running under the Green banner, the GPO has simply put forward the most comprehensive, realistic and hopeful plan for Ontario.

A year ago Mike Schreiner stepped in to the role of Leader of the Green Party of Ontario. Mike is our second leader and first to lead full time.

In his first year, the GPO has opened an office and hired an executive director and director for the leader’s office. More recently Craig Cantin, former ED of the Green Party of Canada, has joined the provincial team as our director of fundraising.

There has simply been more activity and more engagement within the GPO than ever before. The Ottawa platform round table was a smashing success, and from what I’ve heard so were the other stops on the tour.

We have begun nominating candidates for the next election and we are getting campaign teams in place. With enough support, both in terms of volunteers and donations, in 2011 we can become the third party in Ontario in terms of popular vote. Read more »

Mr. Mike (I call him this because it generally takes me somewhere between 4 and 7 attempts to spell Schreiner properly) has been doing regular video-blogs from Queen's Park discussing the major topics of question period and also letting us know what the Greens would have added to the debate. This is a great idea. Not only are we at Queen's Park and showing the media that we are serious but we have the leader of the GPO explaining nearly weekly why we need GPO MPPs and what they would be doing for voters.

It's this kind of stuff that I think will really help us not only increase our visibility but professionalize our image by 2011. Read more »
