Come Join A Large and Growing Group

There is a lot of people phone canvassing SGI, and we're making a lot of calls!  Since I started calling (at the beginning of last week) the number of calls needed to break into the top callers list has tripled.  We are identifying voters hand over fist.

The central office has done a great job of recognizing the work of these volunteers.  Catharine recently applauded the top 5 callers on the candidate Google group and the top caller for each two week period will receive a $50 gift card to the store of their choice.  Congratulations to last week's winner SharonHowarth!  Catharine also sent out cards to the top callers thanking them for their support which I think was a nice personal touch.

Whatever the complaints you may have heard the GPC is organising on the ground in SGI as well as putting together a very large phone canvassing effort.  If you haven't gotten involved, now is the time to do so.  Please contact Micheal McDonald to get set up with a GRIMES account and start canvassing. Top Callers

I am a Maple Leafs fan and I support the Green party which would indicate I'm probably not a competitive person.  But I am, which is why perhaps my favorite feature of GRIMES (theGPC's great canvassing and GOTV management tool) is the Top Callers list.

This list highlights the phone canvassers who have called the most voters.  It's great, it makes for some friendly competition and turns phone canvassing into something of a game. It's fun to chase the top callers, moving out of the pack of people who have canvassed for a couple hours.

Not only is great to move up the list but since the list is updated in real time you can watch people jockey for position.  Last night for example I was trying to move from 5th to 3rd.  I thought I had done it but when I checked I noticed that the 3rd place caller was canvassing too.  It was a small battle as we both called voters switching from 4th to 3rd and back for more than an hour.

In the end I was happy to move in to a comfortable 3rd.  With that said I thought after Monday night I was comfortably in 4th but when I started canvassing last night I had been bumped down to 5th. Read more »

Finished My First Poll

Last night I finished phone canvassing my first poll in Saanich.  I have done a lot of phone canvassing for the party over the past few years.  Most notably in Guelph and in Central Nova but the attitude of voters I have been calling inSaanich has been different.

When canvassing in Guelph and Central Nova I was calling during the write period so there were fewer undecided voters but in Saanich very few people were not open to voting Green.  Call after call there were voters who said that they had not made up their mind but seemed excited to have a strong Green option in the riding.

I was really impressed with the response.  Only in four of the calls I made was the voter sure they would not vote May.  The majority of callers that I reached (when I actually spoke with a voter, not just their answering machine) were undecided but were so positive about the possibility of voting Green I was often tempted to mark them down as a week Green.
