Call SGI From The GPC Office

If you are in the Ottawa area and would like to help Elizabeth in SGI and visit the new GPC office make sure you come out to the phone canvassing night this Wednesday (November 18th, 2009).

We will start calling at 9:30PM and will keep going until 11:00PM.  The office is located down town at 75 Albert Street, unit 305.

If you would like to participate or would like more information please contact Nicole Parker or Katie Gibbs.

What a Hack

If NetNewsledger.com is being honest when it claims to contain Thunder Bay's best online news and information then Thunder Bay must have some of the worst online news and information.

Twice in the past couple weeks one of their columnists James Murray has run biased, unbalanced and misinformed (maybe informed but purposefully misleading?) hatchet jobs on Elizabeth May.

I mean maybe that's what you can expect from a guy who crafts headlines like:

Green Leader Leader Elizabeth May F*cks Up.

Hill Filled

Fill the Hill was this Saturday and it was a very successful outing for the Green Party.  Katie had the great idea a week or so ago to make an other batch of the new Young Greens buttons for Power Shift/Fill the Hill.  We ordered 500 assuming that we would be able to give out most of them and still have some leftover to have available to visitors of the office or other small events.

Elizabeth May is Standing Behind the Youth Wing

Here is a part of Elizabeth May's statement on the "controversy" trumped up by angry conservatives regarding the new Young Greens website:

How many of us in the boomer generation can honestly dispute the fact that our generation has done an unacceptable amount of damage to this planet?

How should youth respond? Go to the mall? Do drugs? Party til the whole mess goes away? Or get active and engaged and call for meaningful engagement in the political process?

I am proud of them for choosing the latter.

May earned her Spot

In Canada there is no commission that clearly outlines the rules for entry in the televised leaders debate.  We (for some reason) trust a small closed group of TV execs to select the format and the participants.  They are supposed to make these decisions based on the public good.  Well the public has spoken and we (at least 73% of we) believe that Elizabeth May should be included.

Establishing a Local Presence

More than 350 people filled a muggy Vic West hall to listen to federal and provincial bureaucrats outline the approval process on a proposed 48-berth marina that has raised the ire of Victorians, but what they heard was Green party Leader Elizabeth May establish her presence in Victoria. ~ Joanne Hatherly, Times Colonist

It's great to see Elizabeth May gaining attention for local issues in Victoria.

Is it Over?

So I have been fairly vocal in my opposition to Stuart Hertzog's decision to challenge Elizabeth May in SGI.  I thought that he should be able to run but I thought that for the benefit of the party, its members, the nearly 1,000,000 Canadians who voted Green and the 40% of Canadians who want to see the Greens represented in parliament that he shouldn't be doing so.

Shouldn't Green Supporters Be Saying That We Can Win?

There was a lot of media attention yesterday and today about Elizabeth officially announcing that she will be running in Saanich.  I just want to point out that it is a really great thing that so many Canadian media outlets believe (as I do) that where the leader of the Green Party of Canada decides to run is news worthy.  I did see something that bothered me.  In many of the articles instead of focusing on Elizabeth and what she brings to the riding gave time to StuartHertzog who is campaigning not to win a nomination contest but to discredit and diminish the leader of our p

Elizabeth Can Win in Saanich

A (non Green) blogger (with a Masters in Political Science) released some analysis today that is let's face it probably questionable but no more so than the other analysis that has been done.  He didn't look at what riding would be best but rather focused on something far more important:  can Elizabeth win in her chosen riding?

His answer: Yes!

You can get the full breakdown here.

She Has a Reason

So there have been some blogs lately as well as many comments stating that Elizabeth created the problems with Stuart Hertzog by delaying the announcement of where she will run.  OK those comments/blogs and opinions but they are still based on truths.  Unfortunately many have stepped outside the truth by saying that she delayed for no reason.  Which well, isn't true.
