Elizabeth May is Standing Behind the Youth Wing

Here is a part of Elizabeth May's statement on the "controversy" trumped up by angry conservatives regarding the new Young Greens website:

How many of us in the boomer generation can honestly dispute the fact that our generation has done an unacceptable amount of damage to this planet?

How should youth respond? Go to the mall? Do drugs? Party til the whole mess goes away? Or get active and engaged and call for meaningful engagement in the political process?

I am proud of them for choosing the latter.

Argumentum Ad Hitlerum

The angry conservatives think we're Nazis and I'm not even joking. It was bound to happen, it's the law. It's Godwin's law:

As [an internet] discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.

What's great though is the next part:

The term Godwin's law can also refer to the tradition that whoever makes such a comparison is said to "lose" the debate.

Real Outrage

Old Conservatives are acting outraged by the Young Greens use of a censored f-word.  Well I don't think many young people think the f-word is outrageous here some real reasons why young people are angry:

Angry Conservative Tools

I have said before that I don't like it when the Green Party seems to "Conservative bash" but sometimes even I can't resist.

The Young Greens have created a new postcard that has great graphics, good, concise and relevant policy points and a catchy slogan:  Your Parents F*cked Up the Planet.

Come Join A Large and Growing Group

There is a lot of people phone canvassing SGI, and we're making a lot of calls!  Since I started calling (at the beginning of last week) the number of calls needed to break into the top callers list has tripled.  We are identifying voters hand over fist.

By-Elections Called, Are We Ready?

In their latest post Blue Green Blogger looked at the election readiness of the Green Party of Canada.

The problem with election readiness is that if you asked 10 people what being ready looked like you'd get 15 different answers.  Are we ready?  In some places more than others.  Can we be more ready?  Sure I don't think there is a limit to readiness.

Top Callers

I am a Maple Leafs fan and I support the Green party which would indicate I'm probably not a competitive person.  But I am, which is why perhaps my favorite feature of GRIMES (theGPC's great canvassing and GOTV management tool) is the Top Callers list.

This list highlights the phone canvassers who have called the most voters.  It's great, it makes for some friendly competition and turns phone canvassing into something of a game. It's fun to chase the top callers, moving out of the pack of people who have canvassed for a couple hours.

Finished My First Poll

Last night I finished phone canvassing my first poll in Saanich.  I have done a lot of phone canvassing for the party over the past few years.  Most notably in Guelph and in Central Nova but the attitude of voters I have been calling inSaanich has been different.

Candidates Online

I, like many Green Party campaigners and bloggers, was very disappointed with preparedness (or lack thereof) of the party going into the 2008 campaign.  There have been many signs of improvement over the past year and here's one I think should be highlighted.

May earned her Spot

In Canada there is no commission that clearly outlines the rules for entry in the televised leaders debate.  We (for some reason) trust a small closed group of TV execs to select the format and the participants.  They are supposed to make these decisions based on the public good.  Well the public has spoken and we (at least 73% of we) believe that Elizabeth May should be included.
