Capital Pride + a Baby Squirrel

I had a great time this weekend at Capital Pride. I've been participating for a few years now and it's fun to see how the Green Party contingent grows each year, and how it at least seems like the crowd is growing every year.
I liked the new route (the narrower street lets you interact more with both sides of the crowd) although I think it was better when we paraded past parliament.
It was great to see how many people came to support Capital Pride. The weather was not very inviting, there seemed to be more people in coats there this year than last year.
Having my face on our hand-out was interesting, quite a few "hey, that you!"s, I even met some people from Ottawa-Vanier, in Sandy Hill to be more specific.
We might not have the flashiest group of the three political parties but we more than make up for it by having the best policies: Read more »
Help Get EMay in the Debates

The broadcasters have denied the will of a clear majority of Canadians by barring Elizabeth May from the televised leaders debates.
They made the same mistake in 2008 but it was over turned by a wave of public outrage. Its déjà vu, the broadcasters made the same mistake and once again Canadians from coast-to-coast are outraged.
Our initial shock has now turned to anger.
Why do five people get to meet behind closed doors and make all the decisions regarding one of the most important features of our Canadian elections?
Why is a party with the support of more than a MILLION Canadians not allowed to have their say?
And why since they are OUR airwaves do WE not get to choose who's in and who's out? Read more »

In the latest EKOS poll which came out earlier today the Green Party of Canada is sitting at 13.0% nationally. In BC 18.1% of those polled choose the GPC.
13 is a great number for us. 18 is an even better one. But the number that should stick out the most is who voters under 25 will be supporting. In that category the GPC is out in front with 28.5%.
Of course the margin of error is higher in BC and among those <25 than it is nationally but margins of error go both ways and regardless it tells us just how important young voters are to the Green Party. Read more »
GPC BGM 2010 Highlights Part Five: E May, E May, E May!

The Green Party of Canada is energized and united behind our leader Elizabeth May. She received an unheard of level of approval from Green Party members who endorsed her leadership to the tune of 85%.
The peak of the convention for me was Elizabeth’s speech Saturday morning. When she finished, had someone handed me a clipboard and a voter list I would still be out canvassing. It seemed as if every few sentences the crowd erupted in a applause and often standing ovations. Read more »

The best leadership team in Canadian politics. Photo by Camille Labchuk
Our deputy leaders did a great job bringing us through the Pledge for the Planet webathon.
Adriane’s political experience and fundraising expertise make her a huge asset to the party.
Georges was right when he said he speaks a differently than most political people and politicians. His ability to genuinely connect with Canadians will be a big boost in the next election. Read more »

A theme throughout the weekend was the strong female leadership in the Green Party of Canada. From Elizabeth and Adriane to the dozens of women who got up to the mic in the plenary female leadership was constantly on display. Read more »
