So yesterday I posted a short little thing about how CUPE telling people to get back to work is ironic (and funny).  It is.

Let me get a few things straight.  The weekend is a good thing.  Safety regulations are a good thing. So are vacation pay, health care, and a slew of other great things that unions have gotten us.  I like unions or I guess I should say I like the idea of unions.  Perhaps a better way to say it is that I like what unions used to be.

I know what unions can do, two of my four parents are in unions.  However there is a real difference between unions.  CUPE is not the same as the USW.  ATU is not the same as the UMW.

UMW and USW had created much better working conditions for thousands of Canadian (and American)  industrial workers.  There efforts have arguable made working conditions and compensation better for all of us.

I think it's great that so many Canadians are against proroguing parliament.  I think it's great that so many Canadians are telling their MPs to get back to work.

However, when CUPE tells anyone to get back to work I have to laugh.

Update:  Just in case you are unfamiliar with CUPE.  They are a large union.  Why am I calling them a friend of irony?  Well I guess one reason would be that the image on their about page is a picture of the three people on strike.

You really wouldn't want to vote red.

Here is the list of Liberals who voted to delay bill C-311 the Climate Change Accountability Act.  I think you'll see that the Liberals have abandoned their green agenda.

In the latest EKOS poll the Conservatives have retaken the top spot. While I'm sure these number will fluctuate between now and late September I'm sure this news takes some wind out of the sails of Liberals eager for the 41st General Election.

Wow has his stock ever dropped recently. Well I guess that's what happens when the city goes on strike and garbage starts piling up everywhere.

With that said wouldn't it be nice if union leaders would add recession to their vocabulary.

I don't defend her but I believe that many of the politicians attacking her are hypocrites. I don't actually believe they are sincere in their attack of what she said. To me its like an athlete who takes steroids attacking an athlete who was found to be taking steroids. The only difference is one was caught.

OK so I'm against the commercial seal hunt. Most people I know are against the commercial seal hunt. My main complaint is that tax dollars go to prop up a failing enterprise. I guess you could say I'm against the commercial seal hunt for the same reasons I'm against the GM buyout.
