Oh Hey + Mr. Mike in Ottawa

GPO LogoSorry I seem to have forgotten that I'm a blogger.  Anyway I've been rather busy on some other web projects that have unfortunately taken away my writing time.

I meant to blog about this earlier, a little while back Mike Schreiner and co swung through Ottawa for the weekend and held a well attended policy forum at the University of Ottawa.  There were two rooms and two groups one focused on local food policy (I think, since I wasn't in that room) and the other focused on reforming the GPO constitution (that's where I was).

For those of you who would rather watch paint dry than here about party governance I will just say that the constitutional resolutions that came out of that and other meetings are very important and will allow the party to function more easily.  It really moves the constitutional ball down the field, I just didn't realize how far the ball had to go.

Last year when I submitted some resolutions for the AGM (3 out of 4 passed, whoo!)  I focused on the first few articles so I wasn't aware of the issues hiding in the later articles.

Also just on a side note, if you are anyone you know is currently forming an organization I have a quick suggestion.  Don't include questions.  Whether they be rhetorical or not, it can't be a good idea.

After a riveting discussion (well the people in the room found it riveting anyway) we headed down to the Oak (funny story about a leaky ceiling, for more info ask Caroline Rioux) for beer and discussion.  As much convenient as the Oak is we really need to find a new pub.

It was fun and got me excited for the upcoming AGM (register today!).  The road to 2011 is going to be an interesting one, and its great to be a part of it.

On a quick side note.  The GPC is not accepting resolutions for the BGM in August.  I think we need to seriously change out Revenue sharing agreement, anyone interested in working on that?
