OTTAWA -- The Green Party of Canada today received complete vindication in a case alleging defamation brought against the party, the Green Party of Canada Fund and leader Elizabeth May personally by a one-time candidate.   The potential candidate was removed by leader Elizabeth May due to comments the former candidate had made on a blog site years before involvement with the Green Party.  The comments referred to the 9-11 attacks in New York City as involving “shoddily built Jewish world bank headquarters.”  In removing him as a candidate, the party explained that the comments were anti-Semitic and unacceptable to the party.

Ottawa Green Pub Night: Saturday, June 5th

The Royal Oak PubNow that we have officially entered drink-on-a-patio season it is time for an Ottawa Green Pub Night!

Come out and meet local Greens from the area, including some candidates and exec members. Also strategic communications advisor Ralph Benmergui is in town and will be attending.

These things are normally a blast. They are great way for those of use who have been around for awhile to just have some good social time without having to knock on doors or ask for money.

For those of you looking to get involved this is a great way to start! I hope to see all of you at the Royal Oak on Laurier at 8pm on Saturday, June 5th. For more information please email me, also if any local exec members could let their membership know about this event that would be great.

Volunteers of the Year

Action Sandy HillLast night Katie and I attended the Action Sandy Hill (ASH) AGM.  Action Sandy Hill is a community organization in our neighbourhood that organizes community events, provides the community with a voice in local issues and supports other neighbourhood groups and events.

Katie, Indigo and I received their Volunteers of the Year award for our work with the Sandy Hill Holiday Food Drive and the Mann Ave Fire Game & Pizza Night.  It was great to receive the award and it was a very interesting meeting.

UFC 113

UFC 113 - Machida, Shogun 2This Saturday (May 8th) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Shogun will fight Machida for the LHW title it what is certainly the best rematch in quite some time. My birthday is tomorrow (I'll be 24.) but since a Wednesday isn't the best day for partying I'm going to Montreal on Saturday see the event live and I am very excited.  Here's the card and my predictions.

Something More Important

Matthew Day aka Blue Green BloggerI have been planning on writing a blog in reply to Matthew Day's recent post about how Elizabeth May feeds on baby tears (or something to that effect) but let's face it, those who know whats going on often find many factual errors in his posts.  Often these errors are small but sometimes they are fundamental.  However people who know stuff are often bound by confidentiality agreements or realize that chatting about things on the internet out of context is rarely helpful.  This vacuum (left by the people who have a clue) is generally filled by those without, who make up for their ignorance with wild assertions and false accusations.
