The ONDP has sent out a release calling Eco Fees a “fiasco”. It isn’t. It’s not perfect and their are some real issues to address, but its a baby step in the right direction towards taxing “bads” instead of income. A while back I differentiated the Green Party of Ontario stance on the HST from the ONDP and the PCs by putting forward the idea that we provide thoughtful opposition, I think this falls into the same category.

There seems to be a lot of discussion regarding a handful of motions that address EDA accountability. I briefly covered these motions in party five of the governance resolutions, but since there are some scare tactics at work in an attempt to defeat them I figure they deserved a more detailed look.
The motions in question (10) fall under two general categories: the rules (8), and the consequences for not following the rules (2).
It just seems natural that we’d start with the rules.

It is very, very hot out. The high today was 44 with the humidex and the UV level has been hovering right around insta-cancer. It’s been like this all week, but something happened this morning. I was checking the mail (as I forgot to check it yesterday) before I headed to work and I bumped into a neighbour. All he said was,
“Hot enough for you?”

So I was thinking that a few of you probably read through all 10 of the resolution posts but most of you probably skimmed a couple and probably decided to wait for a summary. So, here’s a summary. Make sure that you read all of the governance and policy resolutions. Also for reference you should review the current constitution and Vision Green.
BGM Policy Resolutions Part 5: Intergovernmental Relations

Thankfully we have reached the end of the policy resolutions. Today is the final part: Intergovernmental Relations, oh joy. Gauging by the discussion page for each motion of all the sections this one seems to have captivated the least interest. As of this writing only one resolutions has any discussion at all. However this section is still very important. Here is a link to Vision Green for reference. Also if you haven't gone through yet take a minute to look over the previous resolutions:
