Ottawa Candidates Named to the Green Party of Ontario Shadow Cabinet
Green Party of Ontario (GPO) leader Mike Schreiner has appointed local candidates Dave Bagler and Kevin O'Donnell to the GPO Shadow Cabinet. Bagler and O'Donnell join Shadow Cabinet members in holding the old parties at Queen's Park to account by providing a fresh vision for a stronger Ontario.
Dave Bagler, GPO candidate in Ottawa-Vanier, takes on the role of Critic for Community and Social Services and Training, Colleges and Universities. Bagler is a web developer and board member of the Sandy Hill community association who runs an annual neighbourhood food drive.
“Dave puts family and community first,” says Schreiner. “He firmly believes in the value of serving his neighbours, and through his work in Sandy Hill Dave has shown the compassion, integrity and energy that make him the best choice for our Community and Social Services critic and for Ottawa-Vanier.”
“I'm honoured to be joining such a great team. I look forward to working along side Kevin and Mike to achieve real solutions for the concerns in my community. I plan on giving residents in Ottawa-Vanier a strong choice this fall,” says Bagler.
Kevin O'Donnell, GPO candidate in Ottawa Centre, takes on the role of Critic for Infrastructure and Municipal Affairs and Housing. O'Donnell is an active community volunteer and currently works as a senior software developer for a national telecommunications firm.
“Kevin has combined his integrity and reliability with a passion for his community, making him an excellent representative for the residents of Ottawa Centre.” said Mike Schreiner. “Kevin understands the necessity of putting his values into action to make a real difference in his community, and he possesses the work-ethic and skills to carry through on his commitments.”
O'Donnell says “I'm excited to be working with Dave to help our leader pressure the old parties to start delivering solutions to the problems people are facing today. I'm also looking forward to working with all my fellow candidates to provide a real alternative for voters in the fall election.”
In his second year as Leader, Mike Schreiner will be running in Simcoe-Grey for the 2011 general election and has extensive experience advocating for local food and farming in Ontario.
