About Me

Me campaigning for Elizabeth May in London North-Centre during the 2006 by-election.I'm Dave Bagler.  I currently live in the Sandy Hill neighbourhood of Ottawa but I'm from Sault Ste. Marie a small border city in Northern Ontario.

I have been interested in politics for as long as I can remember.  I used to watch Air Farce, This Hour has 22 Minutes and I can still remember begging my mom to let me stay up late to watch Politically Incorrect with BillMaher.

I join the Green Party of Canada in late 2005 but I was very active in the party until the 2006 London North Centre by-election.  On a whim I decided to go to London for the last weekend of the campaign to help canvassing a few polls in hoes that it would put Elizabeth over the top.  I decided to stick around and help get out the vote on election day.  While we didn't win we set a new record for Green Party support and from then on I have been hooked. Me at a Mother's Day Rideau River clean-up.

Shortly after the by-election I became involved with the Young Greens of Canada building their website in 2007 and serving as the Young Greens Council's Internal Communications chair in 2008.  I served as co-youth representative for BridgetDoherty 's campaign in Kingston during the 2007 provincial election.  For the 2008 election I worked at the national office as part of the technical service team.

Packing up donations after the 2nd Annual Sandy Hill Holiday Food DriveIn late 2008 I participated in the CBC contest Canada's Next Great Prime Minister, making it to the phone interview round.  Each candidate was asked to run an online campaign centred around a big idea to improve Canada.  My campaign focused on ending poverty and my big idea was to adopt a Guaranteed Livable Income in Canada.  A key component of the contest was organizing a community event.  This led to the annual Sandy Hill Holiday Food Drive which in its first two years has collected over 1,500 food items and nearly $1,000 for the Ottawa Food Bank and I have no doubt that the third year will be the biggest yet.

In February of 2009 I became the CEO of the Ottawa Vanier constituency association.  Since then I have worked on various web projects and campaigns in addition to blogging about Green Politics.
