BGM Resolutions Part 1: Council Structure and Obligations

GPC LogoI have started going through the resolutions that will be decided on this August in Toronto and while there are lots hopefully I'll make it through them.

I'm starting with the Governance Resolutions as I think they will result in more heated debate in the run up to the BGM (not to mention at the BGM). Of the all of the Governance Resolutions I have started with Council Structure and Obligations because it was higher up the page.

Resolution code Resolution title and my thoughts on the resolution
G10-c01 Restructuring Federal Council
I'm going to vote no on this one. I agree that the structure of Federal Council needs to be changed but I don't think this is the right way to do it. Also this resolution is incompatible with 
G10-c10 and G10-c11 which I fully support.
G10-c09 Motion to Amend 7.3.13 of the Constitution of the Green Party of Canada
Right now the elected co-chairs of the Young Greens sit on Federal Council but share a vote. This motion would give them a vote each. It's a good idea. Hopefully it would get some party support behind organizing campus clubs.
G10-c10 Replacing Councillors at Large with an Executive Council
I don't think the party opinion for this resolution really does it justice. This resolution would introduce executive positions (including an elected Green Party President) to Federal Council. This new council structure (along with G10-C11) would make the structure of the Federal Council much more similar to the structure of the Green Party of Ontario's Provincial Executive. The GPO works well and I think we really need a party president so I'm supporting this resolution and I really urge you to do so as well.
G10-c11 Improving Regional and Gender Equality on Federal Council
Adjusting the number of reps from each area based on population and mandating gender equality, sounds like a good idea. I'll be supporting it.
G10-c25 Francophone Co-Chair
I see the value in have two Co-Chairs but I'd rather see the chair position replaced with a single elected party president so I will not be supporting this resolution.
G10-d10 Federal Council and EDA Executive Code of Conduct and Oath of Office
Yeah I think this is long overdue. Federal Councilors need to be able to trust each other.
G10-d13 Investigating the possible implementation of the Carver Model of Policy Governance
I read a bit about the Policy Governance model and it looks really good.  If the intent of this resolution is to get the Federal Council out of the office and let the ED be the ED then I'm all for it.
